ALTERED FRAME CHALLENGE

For the month of April we hosted a Mixed Media workshop with the ladies of the DXB Secret Sisters Scrapbook Swap Group. We also had the pleasure of sponsoring their April Altered Frame Challenge. With Annais ‘s sample project (below) as inspiration, the ladies were encouraged to alter and decorate their own frames in a mixed media style.

Annais’s frame started off plain black and was altered on the frame edge as well as on the matting. Arabic-themed embellishments and flowers create the main theme of the motif. Different techniques were used to alter even the embellishments themselves.

The ladies who submitted their frames for the challenge all did splendidly. It was a very tough job to come to a decision, considering all the ladies put lots of effort into their pieces. However, it was decided that the frame below deserves this win.

Congratulations Athiya! Her piece was chosen because we saw that she really put in a lot of work and thought into altering the appearance of her frame. We can see four different colors and textures from the edge to the matting. The embellishments also carry on the color theme she started with in the borders.

We salute the ladies who participated in the challenge. We know everyone gave it their all and that everyone is a winner in her own right! See the other fantastic entries and learn more about their group on their blog: DUBAI SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES AND SWAPS

Thank you DXB Secret Sisters Scrapbook Swap Group for a fun April!

Keep on creating, everyone!
